Getting hold of an interesting editorial brief and delving into some in-depth research offers satisfaction to our occasional journalistic impulses. Working with Bandstand, we wrote the magazine to bring to life an upmarket office redevelopment in a historic London neighbourhood then in the throes of its latest major transformation with the impending arrival of Crossrail.
Alongside deconstructing the design and material structure of the building, it was fascinating to explore the area’s rich history, and reflect on its future at a time of such radical change. Along the way we discovered plenty of interesting nuggets of juicy facts, such as where the gallows stood (right under Centre Point), who’s rocked the 100 Club (everyone who’s anyone) and where to escape the West End hordes for a lunchtime chill (the Phoenix Garden, a hidden gem).
