Celebrating the best of medicine in literature, The Wellcome Trust Book Prize launched in 2010, so it’s still a relatively fresh-faced whippersnapper in the world of literary gongs. The very next year we were asked to develop a campaign that would boost awareness of the fledgling prize, and reach audiences who were generally more interested in literature than medical science.
Exploring the duality of medicine and literature, we came up with a series of medically oriented descriptions of exactly what constitutes a good book. These became the cornerstone of the simple campaign, which ran across print, digital and other touchpoints. It was very well received, and the Wellcome Trust invited us back to come up with ideas for the 2012 and 2014 prizes, as well as commissioning us on several other projects for this groundbreaking organisation.
